UNEG Brown Bag: Lessons from the MDG Era
Overview
Lessons from the MDG Era
Delivering on the "World's Biggest Promise"
How did the United Nations and the World Bank help implement and measure the Millennium Development Goals, and what does that tell us about the post-2015 agenda?
2015 is a momentous year for the United Nations, as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) come to a close and a new global development agenda is being agreed upon for the post-2015 era. The current effort to establish the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) builds upon the momentum of the MDGs and represents a testimony to their usefulness. As we embark on this new strategic effort, it is important to take stock of the MDG experience.
In this context, the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) will organize a knowledge management and dissemination event entitled "Lessons from the MDG Era" on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 1:00pm - 2:30pm (EST) to present the findings from three recent evaluations pertaining to the MDGs and the support extended to them by the United Nations and the World Bank. The presentations will be followed by a plenary debate exploring commonalities between the three evaluations and drawing lessons for the post-2015 agenda, its implementation modalities and evaluation framework.
You are welcome to attend in person or online. Please register the event at http://mdglessons.eventbrite.com. Please note that you don't need to sign up for an eventbrite account for the registration.
