The objective of the evaluation is to assess the achievements of the Child’s
Environment and Sanitation (CES) programme, 2001–2005 and document the
experiences gained and lessons learned from the programme for application in
future cooperative programmes. In particular, the evaluation looked closely
at the quality, effectiveness and sustainability of the programme and its
contributions toward achieving the national programme of action (NPA) for child
development goals and the Government’s five-year development plan (2001–2005)
targets on sanitation coverage of 40 per cent and 55 percent and water coverage
of 95 per cent and 100 per cent, respectively.
