With the support of the European Union , UNICEF is embarking on its first cross-regional programme to support children affected by migration. “Protecting children affected by migration in Southeast, South and Central Asia” (2018-2021) aims to ensure that the rights of all children affected by migration are protected, respected and fulfilled, through improved child protection service delivery and enabling environments. Following a six-month inception phase, this cross-regional programme is now entering its implementation phase. The countries included in the programme are Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan. Activities are also planned at the regional level in Central Asia and Southeast Asia.
The purpose of the EA is to determine the evaluability of the programme as currently represented through global- and country-level results and to confirm or adjust expectations about the scope of the programme, its results, and what is realistically achievable within its timeframe and budget. The EA will recommend concrete steps to improve the programme’s evaluability. Linked to this the EA will also contribute to the identification of key evaluation questions and methods with which these could be answered in the final evaluation that is to take place in the final six months of the programme.
