The objective of the evaluation was to assess the strategic positioning and contribution of FAO to the results obtained in the 2013-2016 period in Nicaragua based on the current Country Programming Framework (MPP). The evaluation took into account the significant budgetary reduction suffered by the program due to changes in the dynamics of development cooperation and the nature of the accompaniment required to contextualize the findings and make recommendations. The technical assistance model of FAO in Nicaragua has evolved in accordance with the conditions in the country and as of 2013 begins a process of restructuring in the organization and management modality focused on technical support for public policies. The institutions that FAO accompanied acknowledge their contribution to the achievements obtained as well as their ability to meet the various requests for support.
FAO is valued as a leading agency in the areas of food and agriculture in Nicaragua. Its position has allowed it to influence policies relevant to the development of family farming and capacity building at various levels.
