The main objective of the C&E readiness assessment is to provide an overview of UNICEF’s C&E status and efforts vis-a-vis its positioning, approaches, technical capacities, partnerships, and resources, with a focus on country level perspectives. This assessment utilizes country-level information on various initiatives, identifying gaps and challenges, as well as potential opportunities to scale programmes up, and factors that could strengthen UNICEF’s role in climate and environment issues. This information would be critical to examine UNICEF’s readiness in addressing C&E risks to children, critical to improve the design of its C&E programming approach, positioning, technical capacity, partnership, and resources strategies and plans. This information is particularly relevant, at this time when UNICEF is responding to the COVID 19 and supporting recovery efforts.
