As part of their successive partnerships agreements the Government of Romania and UNICEF demonstrated commitment to review and adjust policies promoting children and their families’ well-being. Romania is currently the fastest growing economy in Europe with 7% growth in 2017, but at the same time almost half of its children are living at risk of poverty and social exclusion. Infant and maternal mortality, teenage pregnancy rate, early school leaving are the highest in EU and 5000 children enter annually in the protection system. Most affected are children from rural areas, Roma children and children with disabilities.
To propose evidence-based policy options, UNICEF and its partners are implementing a model “Social Inclusion through Integrated Services”, based on the hypothesis that: delivery at national level of a universal package of preventive social services (health, education, social protection) in an integrated/coordinated way to children and their families will reduce equity
