UNEG Evaluation Practice Exchange Seminar
EPE 2022/2023 - Reaching the Most Vulnerable: What did we learn from the COVID19 Pandemic
14 Dec 2022 TO 14 Dec 2022
Organized By
UNEG COVID Working Group

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we work as evaluators. With the move to more remote methods, some innovations were developed to ensure that we were still reaching out to vulnerable groups, to effectively engage with communities in a timely manner.

This webinar focused on what worked (and what didn’t) to reach vulnerable populations and engage them in evaluations.

Key speakers:

The session included presentations by:

  • Jerusha Govender, Director, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Information Designer at Data Innovators; Jerusha will present her experience using innovative approaches to support data gathering during the Covid-19 pandemic in Africa.
  • Uyen Kim Huynh, Innovation specialist at the Office of Evaluation at UNICEF; Uyen will present the UNICEF experience with community rapid assessments.

Agenda:

  • Introduction by COVID-19 Working Group Members
  • Presentations by Jerusha Govender (Data Innovators) and Uyen Kim Huynh (UNICEF) followed by Q&A
  • Break out rooms discussion on lessons learned and good practices in the UN system (moderated by COVID-19 Working Group Members)
  • Open discussion in plenary
  • Concluding remarks

Note: The 2022/2023 EPE sessions were held virtually because of COVID.  Normally, the EPE is an in person event (for UNEG members and invited guests only) and the sessions are not normally recorded.
