To identify the extent of the KAP gap on HIV/AIDS among Muslim youth, and from
there to formulate recommendations for establishing strategies and
methodologies for communicating information about HIV/AIDS through the formal
and non-formal Islamic education system. In specific terms, the project
attempts to:
a. critically review existing information and data on risk and vulnerability to
HIV/AIDS among young people in Islamic Schools and those enrolled in mosque
programs in East Java
b. critically analyze programs, policies, and interventions relevant to youth
and HIV/AIDS in the selected schools
c. determine the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) of young people
regarding HIV/AIDS issues, and to identify the impact of intervention
d. identify gaps where HIV/AIDS prevention and care intervention is needed
among Muslim youth
