The main objective of the study was to assess the coverage of Vit.A
supplementation in the Tamil Nadu among children aged 9-60 months.
General Objectives
I. To estimate the coverage of Vit.A supplementation in children 9-60 months in
the state of Tamil Nadu
II. To assess the level of preparedness for Vit.A supplementation among service
providers
III. Knowledge of service providers and community members regarding Vitamin A
Deficiency and Vitamin A supplementation and Vitamin A rich food.
Specific Objectives
I. To estimate the proportion of 9-12 months age group children who received
Vit. A during measles vaccination
II. To estimate the percentage of 12-60 months age group children who received
Vitamin A in the first round in 2006
III. To estimate the percentage of 18-60 months age group children who received
Vitamin A in the second round in 2006
IV. To assess the level of preparedness for Vit.A supplementation in the latest
round like preparation of micro plan, awareness generation, supply, training on
organisation, record and card maintenance as well as reporting
V. To assess the knowledge of mothers/family of 9-60 months age group children
regarding Vitamin A supplementation and Vitamin A rich food.
