The objectives of the CES 2009 were to assess:
1. Childhood vaccination coverage (six antigens: BCG, DPT, OPV, Hep-B, and
Measles) through routine EPI;
2. TT Vaccination Coverage among women to assess the status of protection at
birth;
3. TT5 coverage among 15-49 year old women to evaluate the progress of TT5
programme;
4. OPV, Vitamin-A & Anthelmentic (Albendazol) coverage during 17th NIDs which
was held between November 2008 and January 2009.
Specific objectives of the CES 2009 are:
• To assess the routine EPI coverage among 12-23 months old children ( the date
of birth: from 01-01-2007 to 31-12-2007)
• To assess the TT vaccination coverage among women who delivered children
between 01-01-2008 and 31-12-2008
• To measure the postpartum Vitamin Acoverage among the mothers having children
less than one year
• To assess the TT vaccination coverage among 15-49 years old women
• To evaluate the Immunization program in terms of quantity (coverage; valid
and crude, dropout rates) and quality (invalid doses, vaccination card
retention, post-vaccination abscesses, other AEFI, reasons for left -out and
drop-out, etc.)
• To determine trends in the vaccination coverage and dropout rates at the
national and divisional levels
• To measure OPV coverage among the 0-59 months old children
• To measure Vitamin A coverage among the children who were 12-59 months old in
the 1st round of 17th NID held on 29th November, 2008
• To measure Anthelmintic coverage among the children who were 24-59 months old
at the time of the 2nd round of 17th NID held on 3 January, 2009
• To provide information as a basis for making concrete recommendations, and
planning for improving routine immunization activities
