The main objective of this assessment was to review the management of the
immunization quality and safety components, including vaccine procurement,
vaccine management, injection safety, AEFI monitoring and health waste
management, and to compare the achievements with those described in previous
assessments (vaccine regulation and procurement, September 2003; Injection
safety, March 2003; vaccine management, September 2003; surveillance of adverse
events following immunization; February 2005; management of Health care waste,
February 2006).
The second objective was to provide specific recommendations for the
preparation of the planned measles / rubella immunization supplementary
activity as well as give the Ministry of Health key elements of a longer-term
initiative to achieve immunization quality and safety in the Republic of
Armenia.
