The overall objective of the study was to assess changes in the practices of
management of childhood diarrhoea when Zinc is added to ORT. This was to
measure changes in demand side of the caregivers and supply side of the
providers.
Specifically, the study attempted to find out:
The current level of knowledge among providers for management of
diarrhea
The availability of ORS/Zinc among public and private providers of
diarrhoea treatment
The household practices for the management of childhood diarrhoea and
its severity/duration:
- the level of ORS/T plus zinc utilization
(coverage) among children 2-59 months with diarrhea.
- the level of compliance to the 14 days zinc therapy (adequate coverage)
- the level of use of other types of interventions (e.g. antibiotics)
- The awareness/perceptions of caregivers about the utilization of zinc for the
management of diarrhea.
- the level of use of other types of interventions (e.g. antibiotics)
- The awareness/perceptions of caregivers about the utilization of zinc for the
management of diarrhea.
